NIO Sound Setup Guide
Compatible with NIO ES6 / ES8 / ET5 / ET7 / EC6 / EC7 and other models with NIO OS
Prerequisites

Check System Version
Requires NIO OS 3.0 or above to support custom lock sounds. Check in vehicle Settings → System → Version Info.

Prepare USB Drive
Format USB to FAT32. NIO has limited exFAT compatibility, FAT32 recommended.

Steps

Copy Files to USB
Copy downloaded WAV files to USB root, no special folder needed.

Insert into Car USB
Insert USB into the NIO USB port under the center console.

Enter Car Settings
On the center screen, go to: Settings → Audio/Sound → Vehicle Lock/Unlock Sound → Custom.

Select Sound
Select the WAV sound file from the USB directory and confirm. The new sound will play when locking.
FAQ
Some older ES8 / ES6 models may not support custom lock sounds and only allow enabling/disabling the factory sound. Please confirm NIO OS ≥ 3.0.
We recommend using mono WAV files. Stereo WAV files may be automatically downmixed by the car system, causing volume or quality changes.
Confirm the USB is formatted as FAT32. NIO may not recognize exFAT drives. Re-format as FAT32 and try again.
💡 The NIO OS “Audio/Sound” menu path may vary by model and system version. If you can't find it in Settings, try using the center screen global search to find “prompts”.
